Nan Sector ( left to right) Bernieres, WN28,
WN27, St Aubin, Douvres Radar Station
A hard fought battle with the Canadian forces
first capturing WN 28 and then WN 27 before advancing on the Douvres radar
station. Although planned as a 15 turn game on the day we only
finished 11 turns with the Germans still in control of the Douvres radar
station. The game was called a draw.
The key aspect of successfully taking the radar
station was the need for a Petard armed vehicle to destroy the MG tobruk in
the complex. Most of these were on the Canadian right flank and took
time to get across. Being able to land closer to St Aubin would helped
but might alos have meant a bigger battle for WN 28. All in all an
enjoyable game.

Canadian "funnies" land by LCT directly in front of WN 27 - turn 2.
The problem faced by the Candians was that they only had one team capable of
clearing a 30" sector. This meant that NAN White was cleared of mines
while the vehicles on NAN red in front of WN 28 had to take their chances.
WN27 was also the first to fall due to the bunker busting capability of the
Petard armed Churchills. |

Canadian "funnies" move off the beach at Bernieres supported by "dry-landed"
DD tanks. Having destroyed WN 27 three exits were quickly cleared
allowing vehicles to move inland. |

Heavily
damaged Centaur to the west of WN 28 / St Aubin seafront - turn 2.
This lone vehicle arrived on turn 2 and engaged in a duel with the guns in
WN 28. Eventually it was able to clear an exit and was able to support
the infantry assault on the Douvres radar station |
